Jon Bullas
(Director of Instruction)

Jon grew up in England playing amateur golf at national level.  He came to the United States in
1996 to attend Florida Atlantic University on a golf scholarship.  Jon played all four years winning
numerous events.  He graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts.  Jon turned professional after
graduation and took over coaching the golf team at FAU for the 2000-2001 season.  He traveled to
Venezuela and qualified for The South American Tour.  Jon played in the Venezuela Open, the
Brazil Open, the Argentina Open, the Mexican Open and the PGA Championship of South America.  
During 2001 he played the Golden Bear Tour in Florida.  Jon moved back to England in October
2001, during 2002 he played various events throughout Europe.  In April 2003 he became the
Assistant Professional at Dartford Golf Club near London, he started his PGA program.  Jon
graduated from the PGA in December 2005 as a Class A PGA Golf Professional and Level III
instructor.  Jon and his family returned to Florida in October 2006 to takeover the Suncoast Golf
Center and establish the ‘Jon Bullas Golf Academy’.  
Bill Tawney
(PGA Professional)

Bill Tawney is a Class "A" PGA Professional.  He has been teaching the game of golf for 14 years in
Ohio and Florida.  While living in Ohio, Bill was a high school golf coach and teaching Professional.  
He moved to Sarasota full time in 1999.  Bill has a very simple yet effective teaching style, basing
his methods on the "Best practices of the PGA of America", and the time proven fundamentals of
the golf swing.  When not teaching golf, Bill enjoys playing competitive golf and spending time with
his family and friends.  Bill joined the team at Suncoast Golf
Center in 2007.
Ken Butler
(Senior Teaching Professional)

Born and raised in Scotland where he learned the game of golf.  He came to the United States in
1984.  Ken is USGTF level IV Master Teacher as well as an accomplished player.  In 1999 he won
the WGTF Championship.  He has played on six US teams in the WGTF Cup.  Ken has an easy going
way about him which helps put his students in a comfortable atmosphere.  Ken says “As teaching
professionals we have a lot of keys and our students have a lot of locks that need to be unlocked
so that they can play better golf.”  Ken is a top 60 USGTF instructor.  Ken worked at the Tony
Jacklin Golf Academy as Director of Instruction from 2000-2003.  He then moved to the Ben Sutton
Golf School in 2003-2005.  Through the years Ken has spent a lot of time in South America working
with the Columbian and Panama national amateur teams.  He joined the Suncoast Golf Center
team in October 2006.
